The Faces of Eldon

That’s me. My name is Patrick. I’m often called Patch, Paddy and extremely awkward. I sometimes like to pretend I’m black, but I’m quickly reminded that I’m whiter than Casper. However that doesn’t stop me from showing off that I know almost every lyric to every Nicki Minaj song out there.

I’m also tall and thin, but I find mostly that Gumby has a better body than me. My attempts to tone up at the gym are often sabotaged by my love for fat and salt.

I have a twitter account but nobody ever talks to me, and I’m convinced that because I follow characters from The Office that we’re all really good friends. You can say I’m wrong about that but I can promise you all you’ll gain from that is a swimming pool in your back yard full of my salty tears.

I’ve found that if I make fun of myself before others get the chance to (and let’s face it, it’s inevitable), it’s easier to hide my pain.

I get by with a little help from my friends.

This is Shannon. She’s often called Shatch (by me) and Shan the Man. She’s a die-hard football fan and absolutely loathes Harry Potter. She’s usually either found with Lexi and I or in her bed cuddling with a plate of chicken nuggets and pretzel M&Ms.

She could easily make it as a model, but she instead enjoys hawking up the biggest man loogies you’ll ever know and sweeping her own hair off the walls of her shower with a broom.

She’s my best friend and it’s important for you to know that she’s definitely not a lesbian. Sorry, ladies.

I sometimes love to hate Shannon. If she’s not spitting her snot globs out the window of my moving Jeep, she’s talking about her love for her dog Buddy (often referred to as Boosin) or laughing hysterically over the copious amounts of her hair that get stuck between my toes.

She’s constantly hit on by men (especially old men), but I think that would change if they knew what I knew. This blog is partially meant to expose her for who she really is.

This is Alexis. Often called Lexi, or in my attempt to give her a name like Patch and Shatch, Latch. Lexi loves just a handful of things: Her friends, her family, the kids she teaches, and frozen ice pops.

Lexi is the kind of woman who can be big or small, and she’s still going to blow you away. She’s absolutely gorgeous, and loads of fun to be around. Just try not to piss her off. Her iron-clad hands will hurt worse than getting hit in the face with a cinder block. Ouch. She’s tough. She’s hardcore. She’ll cut a bitch.

Lexi shares my hate for Boosin, and I absolutely love that. We’re all terrible dancers, but she does the best crazy-legs dance you’ll ever see. She can usually be found with her roomie Shannon and soon-to-be roomie, yours truly, or trying to teach herself how to do the stanky leg via YouTube videos.

Take a minute to stop by her blog!

This is Clare, and her mother thinks this picture is slutty. She’s often called Clare. Mostly because I haven’t known her long enough to give her a dumb name. Clare is short and sassy, and has a designated place to let all of her farts out: Her car.

She enjoys looking in the mirror and seeing how ugly she can make her face look. She also likes being so short that I can’t tell if she’s hiding behind a shelf at work or if she’s quit her job and left me to fend for myself against ravage vitamin-craved customers.

Clare is a 10 out of 10 and makes sure people understand that. She doesn’t waste her time with mediocre men. She dreams of being one of the Kardashians. She’s full of inappropriate stories, and doesn’t judge me too much for the endless and perverted “that’s what she said” jokes I pile on her.

She’s often found either locking her roommates out of her house for fun or watching cat videos on her computer. She’s very short and it’s sometimes hard to see her. She’s a little ball of fire, and the absolute coolest person I work with. My job wouldn’t be as nearly as enjoyable without her.

Please check out her blog at blogspot!

This is Jace. He’s my boyfriend and he looks GUD in this picture. Also, that bow tie he’s wearing has schnauzers on it. You can’t say no to that. Although, I can’t decide what I’m more attracted to – him or that juicy P. Terry’s burger he’s chomping away at. It’s a tough decision though, right?

Although he’s often referred to as a “straight gay”, he’s Beyoncé’s number one fan. She’s his spirit animal, la durr. Much like me, he likes to pretend he’s ghetto fabulous and listens to rap songs over and over until he has them memorized.

He’s a biochemistry major at one of the nation’s toughest schools, and therefore spends copious amounts of time loathing himself as well as the institution he attends.

In order to balance out the soul-engulfing sadness he sometimes faces, Jace stuffs himself with endless amounts of flour tortillas while flirting with the McDonald’s dollar menu.

He can be found either feeding rats meth for his research, burning his current due lab report, or unwinding with friends or myself. Damn I think I luh that boy. Do anything fo that boy.

Check out his Tumblr!

This is Boosin. He’s the source of my every nightmare, and his soul is composed of equal parts evil, the sounds of children screaming, and dark things. Fundamentalist Christians often mistake him as the Antichrist. His soul lives in the hearts of thieves, liars, and the Prince of Eternal Flames.

Steer clear of him, I beg you. For only a moment he’ll come off as innocent – right before he reveals his razor-sharp talons; ripping and shredding anything he can reach (mostly the thigh to groin region). Shannon will often try to convince you that, “All he ever does is love you,” but she couldn’t be more wrong. He breaks bones and laughs. Helping her out of his clutches is pretty much a lost cause by now.

If he’s near, it will be easy to tell by the sudden looks of abject horror that rob innocent bystanders of their smiles. You’ll know when you see it. And when you see it, get your ass out of there.

QUESTION. What kind of bear is best? BLACK BEAR.

This is Sophie. Also known as Black-Bear, Sophie-Bear and Sophie-loaf. She’s the cutest and most loyal dog you’ll ever meet in your entire life. She also has razor sharp talons, but she tries to use her powers for good. Most of the time. Not all of the time.

She loves a handful of things: Rawhide bones, peanut butter, me, catching frisbees in mid-air, and leaving dead insect carcasses outside my door as gifts.

She once met Boosin, and now suffers from PTSD. It’s taken some time for her emotional wounds to heal over, though we’re getting there. It’s been a long and painful process, but she’s a resilient little pup and I’m confident she’ll come out at the other end of this a much stronger bear.

She’d be your best friend in the whole world.

However, she can’t. She’s already mine.

Each of us specialize in awkward. These are our stories.

  1. Patrick, you are a nut!

    Love mom :)

  2. Patrick,

I have to say that I am very upset by all of this. I am supposed to be very busy working, but I got on fb during my lunch break- at noon….I found your crazy blog and I still haven’t logged off yet- it’s close to 3.
I have been laughing and crying hysterically.
    In my cubicle.
    All by myself.
Trying to stifle it so no one walking by thinks I’ve lost my mind.
This is now my favorite thing in the world to read. EVER.leeeleeeleee

    • Bahaha, that’s my all time goal! This totally made my day. If you have anybody you who may enjoy it too, please pass it on! We’re trying to up our views and subscriptions so that more people see it! But seriously. THIS MADE MY DAY.

You should go to our Facebook page and like us! http://www.facebook.com/awkwardeldon

We also have a twitter if you have an account there! @eldontweets
      :)

  3. [...] without wanting to vomit, so now is the perfect time to announce that I will be interviewing Patrick of the (almost, sort of) famous blog Awkward Eldon for my next post! Patrick will be answering [...]

  4. Just read a couple of your posts, loving it so far — keep up the awkward!

  5. hello friend,

    very cool, very cool

    -peace

    • Hey friend!

Thanks for stopping by! I look forward to reading more of your stuff! :)

  6. Oh wow, thanks for stopping by, you are hysterical! Look forward to seeing more Eldonisms!

    • Thank YOU for stopping by! I’m excited to read some more of your stuff as well! Cheers! :)

  7. Where does ‘Eldon’ come from? Did I miss the reference?

    • My Jeep’s name is Eldon. The blog started out as a way to write down all of the idiotic things that happen with my friends and I while we’re in and around my Jeep. It then turned into this: a way to write about the idiotic things that happen while we’re in and around everywhere/everything. You’d have to read pretty far back for that. Which I don’t recommend. I can’t be responsible for the inevitable loss of brain cells you will suffer.

  8. I’m secretly in love with you in that I totally just broadcast it across a public internet venue. Shhh…tell no one.

Also Sophie looks SO SWEET. I want to cuddle her face off of her face. And Boosin just looks spunky. :)

    • Sophie is the best dog EVER. Boosin is not a dog. He’s a demon from hell, and he gets pleasure out of torturing me. But Sophie makes up for that. She’s an angel, and steps on the faces of demons. And then laughs. No big deal. :)

  9. Thanks for stopping by and following my blog. I am wondering what in the world the little girl in the sour blog is eating! What a face!

  10. You are adorable. Not sure if that was the reaction you were looking for lol but I love this and your mild obsession with the Office!

  11. Thanks for stopping by adventures of tootsie woo (or Ads of T.Woo, as nobody is calling it)!! I had a Jeep once…sigh. His name was Frank. We were in love.
    -Miss Woo

P.S. love you’re blog, so glad I found it!

  12. Hey Eldon –

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I wanted to stop by to see who Eldon is :)
    Enjoying your posts !

  13. You need a cat to balance the group….and ignore it. Clever blog!

  14. Hahahaha…love it!!! I will be back :) Thanks for the follow!!

    • Thanks :) I’ve enjoyed going through your posts so far! I look forward to reading them in the future! Thanks for stopping by :)

  15. Patrick! I love your blog! Fresh, funny and original, and of course awkward is always a plus!

    • Hey, thanks a million, Linda! :)

  16. OK, Awkward Patrick, Patch, Paddy – You are hysterical! I’m occasionally funny by accident. You are clearly regularly funny on purpose. I will certainly have to visit you again – if I can’t get past Boosin!

    • Thanks so much, Debbie! I’m glad you stopped by :)

Oh, and yeah. Watch out for Boosin. That little nasty..

  17. I have a twitter account too, no one follows me either…except a few hookers…well…they were following me…but they’ve recently moved on to greener pastures. Very entertaining blog!

    • Why is it always the hookers and porn stars that follow amazing bloggers? Because they want us. They want our bodies. But don’t have sex with them.. That’s chlamydia just waiting to happen. Not that I know from experience.. Because I don’t.

  18. Pretty funny stuff. Maybe I will even follow you on twitter. Thanks for stopping by Babbleon5!

  19. I love that you love The Office. I consider myself “part of The Office” & I always make lots of That’s What She Said comments too! Love the blog!!! :) -Mell

    • The Office is my life, I feel like. Also, can we be best friends?

  20. Eldon, Thanks for stopping by my blog. I really enjoyed yours–and your friends and Boosin, but I love Sophie! Makes me glad I have my own little snookums.

  21. thanks for the sign up. i like u already because you’re self-effacing, like salt and fat, and dogs…and cool ladies. ok, onward. contiinue

  22. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I certainly enjoyed yours–your posts and Boosin, but I love Sophie!

  23. You’ve a great sense of humor, and are amazing at “wordsmithing” that humor. Not something that everyone can do. You’ve got talent there. PS~thanks for following me. Big grin. :)

  24. It looks like a fun blog with just enough awkwardness to make it real. Thanks for signing up.

    • You betcha, and likewise! Thanks for stopping by! :)

  25. Wow, interesting, fun blog

  26. “I can’t be responsible for the inevitable loss of brain cells you will suffer.”

Ok. I’m in the right place.

    • If you say so! But I’m serious. I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE.

  27. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I thought I write some crazy random stuff but you take it to another level. Made me laugh :)

  28. Oh god you’re ‘About Me’ page alone slays me! ARRRGHGHGHGHGH -falls dead-.
    Hate that literal shit.

  29. Thanks for following me. I think you’re just doing it because I’m following you, not because you have any parenting tips, but I don’t care. I’ll take all the followers I can get! You’re obviously much funnier (read: more depressed) than I am. Having said that… I agree that the dachshund is an evil breed. I once dog sat for a baby dachshund and that thing ate my Birkenstocks (no judging. This was years ago but I love me some Birkenstocks). I wasn’t happy. Anyway, thanks… and I do so look forward to reading your posts.

    Hugs

  30. Hey, thanks for dropping by at Thoughtful Thoughts. You have a great blog here…..loving going through it…..
    :)

  31. You’re too funny!!

  32. What fun your stories are! I love the pics accompanying your narrative ~ junemoon

    • Haha, thanks a million! I try to find the most futile pictures of there for my blog posts ;)

  33. Cool! :D Keep it up! And thanks for the follow.

  34. Thanks for reading my blog buddy, i’ll keep reading about your awkwardness.

  35. Hilarious! Super duper smart and clever and fabulous.

  36. I have never been so ‘glued’ to a bio. Outrageously funny, honey! Loved it. Gotta check out the rest of your site.

  37. Have you ever had that moment where you were reading someone’s blog and you said (in your head, of course because out loud would just be weird), “If this person lived by me, we would most definitely be BFFs”? The reason I casually mention this is that I may have just done that. I’d take it as a compliment, I think.

  38. I like your blog and have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award.
Click me back to get the details on your award.

  39. Wow, now I have bio envy. My pathetic paragraph pales in comparison. Love this stuff!
Thanks for following me. I will stalk you in return.

  40. Thanks for stopping by my blog and following. OMG, I can’t understand why you would do that. You are so fascinating in your dysfunctional functionality. It’s going to take me a while to sift through all of this brilliance. It’s so cool that you’re in Austin. The weirdness of Austin has been declining of late and you may be the solution to that problem. We may have a new slogan coming, “Keep Austin Awkward”

  41. The blue eyed dog freaks me out!

  42. Eldon, thanks for stopping by my blog. Hope you do so in the future. I’ll be looking at yours.

    Ron Kline

  43. Merry Christmas!

    • To you as well! :)

  44. thanks for stopping by my blog! I hope it brings a smile to your face :D

  45. Thanks for the follow! And the likes and stuff! Can’t wait to read more of your blog. hearts, sean.

    • Thanks for the comment here, man! I look forward to reading more of you stuff, as well! :)

  46. Ohhh…. Your funny & I think I kinda have a crush on your blog! Seriously.
I don’t know what to do with these feelings but to keep reading… :)

    • Haha, read away, sir! :)

  47. Great stuff! Love how you love your friends! Improvise all day long!

  48. Eldon,

Thanks for adding a like to my Perfect Fit over at 20 Lines A Day. You’re a pretty funny guy, you know?

  49. Thanks for the follow :)
    I love your humor.

  50. You are one crazy macadamia! And handsome in a filtered kind of way. Take off the cling wrap and you’ll be top notch. If you like good and funky books, I’ll pass on the word. I can’t stand that dog pic…Boosin…barf….so don’t bring the hair ball around my block. Pop. Your friends look freaky cool. Ciao

  51. Thanks for the like!

  52. Nice page! Love the descriptions of the Eldon “kingdom!” Keep on writing! I’m following you now.

  53. This is without a doubt the best bio I’ve seen. Thanks for the follow :)

  54. Hope you’re in for for some family-unfriendly dumpster humor. Thanks for being a new addition to my readers. You seem pretty normal so I apologize ahead of time.

  55. Hey Eldon. I think I’d do both of you. ;-)

    • Haha…uh, thanks?

  56. Thanks for following my lil corner of Blogdom! You’re quite entertaining, and I better step it up in the humor department or I’ll be left in the dust!

  57. Eldon my friend! Thanks for liking my “Sugar Plump Fairy” and even more for following my blog! :-) I’m especially delighted, because I just read your post, and enjoyed enough spontaneous LOLs to make me want to follow your blog as well. So thanks for making me aware of your existence, and since I’m quite awkward myself – and damn proud of it! – I’m sure we’ll get along just fine! :-)

  58. So super jeals of the girls!! I want to be your friend too!! Thanks for the giggles during the workday, and btw, I used to get condolence awards for being awkward. Hearts to you guys – kindredness and all that!! =D

  59. hi eldon! i’m flattered that you like my blog. yours seems pretty cool and funny too. where do you live? you seem a bit european.

    • I’m in Austin, Tx!

  60. Hey, thanks for stopping by. Love your blog! It’s always good to read the ramblings of those who can easily laugh at themselves.

    I will be following :)

  61. Thanks for the like hit, and the subscription, I was happy to reciprocate. I found your “many faces of Eldon” to be extremely entertaining and I am looking forward to many more laughs.

  62. Oh my goodness, dude you’re hilarious. Thank you. Thank you for sharing your wonderful craziness with the world!! I am honoured that you are following me and that you liked my post!! I can’t physically stop myself from following you right back…my fingers will click away at their own accord :D I seriously look forward to everything else you have to share!! – Hugs, Christy x

  63. Um so you work in health food? Vitamins? Supplements? Hand me the trans-dermally absorbed magnesium?…Samesies, we should like totes be friends.

  64. Nice story telling Patrick. Looks like you have a great group of friends. I envy you.

  65. Loved reading all about you and your world. Thanks for stopping by mine.I also have a twitter feel free to follow, I’ll follow back:
    @ahairspot.

  66. Eldon, thanks for checking in on my yoga dog blog. Your writing is very honest, and honesty can be awkward. In fact, the word ‘awkward’ is kind of awkward, isn’t it? Too many ‘w’s or something. Keep putting it out there. I will be following.

  67. Thanks for following mine. Enjoyed reading all about your disfunctional human and doggy friends – they could be part of the cast for a sitcom, I think!

    • We say that all the time! It would be that annoying sitcom that gets cancelled after one season.

  68. So glad I found you – love random and akward – well mostly because that’s me 99.9% of the time – great choice in friends b.t.w. I think we all need a bit of Shatches, Latches and Clares in our lives :) Oh and yes your boyfriend is hot – there I said it! ;)

    • It’s always a pleasure to meet someone who shares my affinity for awkwardness :) . And thanks! I agree – I have a great group of friends, and a very hot boyfriend :)

  69. What a crazy crowd – Enjoyed touring your blog. Can’t wait to stumbles out next.

  70. I love your blog! You have a great group of friends and are just a doll yourself. Can’t wait to read more. I laughed out loud. Really. No acronym needed.

  71. This is the best ‘about’ I’ve ever read, and the only one I’ve gotten to the bottom of. Its all so horrible in the best way. You remind me of my group. I bet I freaked out others around me because my face looked just shy of Harrison Ford trying to get lucky after a stroke. Just good job. Really.

  72. Because you’re gorgeous, I’d do anything for you – well maybe not anything, but I did nominate you for “The Versatile Blogger Award” here:

    http://30yearsofgrowingpains.wordpress.com/2012/01/08/apparently-versatiler/

  73. My friend made a stupid comment about how he was sooo glad he woke up on Sunday next to some guy he has a crush on. I don’t have any real emotions or feelings, and thought that sounded stupid. So, I decided to google “sappiest picture” and…somehow ended up here. I think it was definitely worth it…

  74. “About me” is very good. I visited to see who is Eldon..
    Cheers.. Keep writing.

  75. Patrick? You are absolutely and thankfully outrageous! I love your personality. You go right ahead and rap and dance and get your ghetto fabulous training! Maybe one day you can teach me! :)

  76. Hi! Thanks for dropping by my blog. Glad to make the acquaintance. Cheers!

  77. I’m giving you an award…The Versatile Blogger award! You can find my post here: http://jeangreyphoenix.wordpress.com/2012/01/28/twice-the-awards-means-twice-the-gratefulness/

  78. Hello dear, Congratulations! I have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award, check it out here: http://allaboutlemon.com/2012/02/06/whew-more-versatile-blogger-awards/

  84. I really enjoy your sense of humor and your candor. Well done.

  90. should have found this blog sooner, its hillarious. totally love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  91. Its nice to see someone else who has a quantum brain that never quite knows where it is, is uncertain of where it is going, and generally defies all description.. Keep writing the flow of consciousness is refreshing and a fun read

  92. Hey you fabulous you! You are nominated for the Academy Award Winning Writers Association for…drumroll…The Most Versatile! See ya’ around! :-D

  100. Original, crazy, and crazy original!

  101. What-what??? You can follow characters from The Office on Twitter?!

  102. Thank you for following my blog. Your blog reminds me why i’m glad i’m not young anymore except that awkward has no age and there’s no statute of limitations on goofy! (the adjective not the dog) So I indulge in both far too frequently for someone you’d think woulda learned better by now.

  103. You Sir, crack me up!
    -thank you!-

  104. Hey, Patrick, thanks for following my Ryan Gosling Hey Girl blog. The position of Number 1 Honorary Girl is up for grabs, if you’d like it. ;-D

  105. I doff my cap to you sir; quite a work of humour

  108. Thanks for the follow, I’m enjoying your blog as well!

  109. Thanks for liking and following my blog. I followed you back, glad I did. So far I love what I’m reading. Just your description of your friends was enough.

  110. Ah lad, I’m thinking I’m going to like your blog. Thanks for stopping by my blog too. It’s good to see crazy exists all over the world.

  111. Paddy – Is your last name O’Furniture? Should be! :) I think I met you when I was in my early 20′s about 30 years ago. No? Well, then I met someone like you and I like your energy! Thank you for the like to my blog, and for subscribing to salmonfishingqueen.wordpress.com! I hope that I can entertain you in the way this article has entertained me! Hugs — Barb

  115. Thanks for stopping in and liking my post. I really appreciate the support.

  116. Thanks for the follow! I hope my antics can keep up with your antics! (I don’t have a posse of friends with nick-names…. We’re all English teachers, though I’m sure we have all been called “Grammar Nazi” at one point… or as one student called me, “Awfully scary for being such a little girl”.) Any-hoo, I look forward to reading about you and your friends in your funny ramblings.

  117. Hey man, thanks for the follow, I’ll be sure to keep updated with your posts.

  118. I nominated you for the ABC Award! Visit http://insearchofthesilverlining.wordpress.com/2012/04/05/this-blog-is-friggin-awesome/ at your convenience and keep up the awesome work!

  119. Patrick,

It was a difficult task indeed narrowing down the “one” thing I wanted to tell you made me laugh. You made it very, very tough on me, but I think I pinned it down:

“My attempts to tone up at the gym are often sabotaged by my love for fat and salt.” <—- Love.

You and your friends are hilarious! Good to meet you!

    Blessings,
    Cara

  120. I love the dramatis personae, very clever and hilarious!

  121. Thanks for dropping by my blog and for the follow, when I saw you liked a post something made me click over, I dunno what but boy am I so happy I did! You’re too funny! I love that sense of humour of yours.

  124. You write well, Eldon! Thank you for your blogs!
